9 MONTHS OLD

Jillian went in today (11-12-10) for her 9 month checkup. She is now 19 pound 8 ounces (56th percentile) and is 27 3/4 inches long (48th percentile). They were pleased with her growth. She wasn't a big fan of the doctor taking her over to the table to examine her. She was getting hungry and sleepy and that isn't really the best combo. I scheduled her 1 year checkup for a little earlier in the morning. Maybe that will help!
Jillian starting crawling on her 9 month "birthday" which was back on 10-29-10. She has since really taken off and tries to get into everything. She also started pulling up on stuff to stand. She hasn't yet tried walking along any furniture but I'm sure that is soon to follow. Currently she loves to try and splash the water in the dogs water bowl. We have a chair blocking her path at the moment. We can't exactly pick it up since the dogs need water.

(11-12-10) Jillian playing on the floor in the doctors office. She wanted to crawl around and kept going over to the door.
(10-31-10) Jillian as a ladybug. She helped me hand out candy but not before posing for a few pictures in her costume.

Squash Face

8-1-10 Jillian eating squash - making cute noises too

In general Jillian is still not a huge baby food fan. We have found only one thing she will really eat which is oatmeal. Sometimes she will eat peas but not always.

First Solids & Rolling Over

Ok so this was actually almost 2 weeks ago, but I am just now getting around to posting. This is Jillian's first taste of yummy rice cereal in milk. Doesn't that sound good?! ;)

Jillian has pretty much master rolling from her tummy to her back. She tends to not stay on her tummy long at all. She also always rolls in the same direction. She is getting much quicker at rolling over too.

Splish Splash

Yesterday evening (7-21-10) we attended a pool party. This wasn't the first time Jillian went swimming but it was the first time she seemed to enjoy it. The water felt about like bathwater which I also like :). She had a blast splashing the water with both hands. Her face had water all over it. It was very cute when she was kicking her legs and splashing at the same time.

I would have liked a video of this but we were all swimming and well the camera is better off staying dry. We are planning on getting her a baby pool since she enjoyed playing in the water so much last night. Perhaps then I will be able to get a video of her playing in the water.

I am updating this post because we went swimming this weekend and I got a few videos of her playing in the water :).

Purdue Peeps

The past couple of weekends we enjoyed catching up with friends from Purdue. Sarah, Amy, Jillian, and I went to pick Andrea up at the airport on the July 10th. This was the first time Andrea got to meet Jillian. We had fun hanging out at Sarah and Craig's for the weekend.
During that following week Andrea, Sarah, and Amy came up on Wednesday to check out the 4-H Fair. They got to eat food at the Pork Producers stand and look at some animals. It was very hot so after a couple of hours we were done and headed back to our house for some Air Conditioning!

Then on Friday Andra, Sarah, and Amy came back up to see us. We went shop at the outlet mall and got some sleepers and cute clothes for the girls. Candia also came along shopping with us and got some cute outfits for her little guy as well. We met up with Craig & Rob for dinner and then caught the end of Rick's softball game. He actually had two that night. They lost the first game, but won the one we got to see part of. That night we went back to our house to hang out. Sadly the next day (Saturday) Andrea had to go home, but it was nice visiting while she was here!

4 month check up

6-6-10 tummy time

6-4-10 Jillian in the Purdue outfit I made for Amy, but Amy's mommy let me borrow for Jilly to wear :)

Jillian had her 4 month check up this past week. She now weighs in at 14 lbs 15 oz's and is 24 inches long. She is in the 70% for weight, but only the 30% for length. She gained exactly 3 lbs from her 2 month check up!

During this past week Jillian has managed to roll herself over. She has gone from back to front and front to back. She demonstrated going from front to back at the doctors office. She doesn't really have it figured out that well yet because I haven't seen her roll over since.

Jillian did have to get vaccinations again this week. She did really well until the last shot and cried a bit. It didn't last more than 30 seconds though. She is a pretty good sport about it. She was a little more fussy during that day, but just wanted to be held more than usual. We had baby Tylenol on hand that she was given and seemed to make her feel a bit better. I'm glad she doesn't have to get shots again until August!

4 Month Old!

5-29-10 Jillian standing - her legs are getting strong!
----------------------

Jillian is now 4 months old as I'm sure you have gathered by the title of this post. She really likes grabbing her toys now and tasting them of course. She has also really started to like standing up with a little help of course.

Jillian is getting good at blowing spit bubbles and drooling. She has figured out that she can make noise without opening her mouth. We have noticed her cry has changed. Funny how they loose the newborn sounds.

3 months old!

Jillian is doing a good job of holding her head up all on her own. She really likes to bat at her toys and is starting to grab onto them a bit. We are working on tummy time but she isn't a big fan. She will only handle a couple minutes at a time normally.

4-10-10 Jillian and her new hat

Jillian had her "2 month" appointment this past Friday. She weighed in at 11 poonds 15 ounces and is now 22 3/4 inches long. She is in the 52 percentile for her height and 67th percentile for her weight. The doctor was pleased with her growth and development :).

8 weeks old already

3-27-10 Jillian @ 8 weeks
Jillian sucking her thumb

Jillian really enjoys laying on her blanket so she can kick her legs. She especially likes to be talked to. Lately she has started trying to get her whole fist in her mouth. Today she also got her thumb in her mouth. She has only done this one other time that I have seen.

Jillian Noises

Jillian has started to make happy noises and does smile at us occasionally. However when I get out the camera to capture her cute noises she gets quiet. Little goober just looks at the camera.

Bear Bear

Jillian with her new care bear.

When I was a baby a good friend of my parents named Diane made me a care bear. Now the one she made me was very well loved so his color is a bit faded and is a little see through. As you can see Diane made a new care bear (the same one as I had) for little miss Jillian. So sweet of her :)!

One Month old

Here is Jillian at one month old.

Today (March 2nd) we took Jillian to her 2nd doctors appointment. She had her first at 4 days old. She weighed in today at 9 lbs 2 ozs and at 21 inches long!! She has gained a lot in her first month. She was in the 50 percentile for her head size, 42nd for length, and 44th for weight.

She was awake and happy for the visit until her shot. She didn't care for that so much. Poor little thing was just laying there all happy and she got poked by a needle. She cried for less than a minute and then she was happy again.

We are finally starting to get in to a bit of a routine around here. Jillian gets up 2 times during the night to eat. She has been eating and then going right back to sleep so that has been nice.

She is awake and happy pretty much all morning and then starts to get sleepy after lunch. She then wakes back up in the evening. We have been giving her a bath each evening because it wakes her up. The one evening recently that we didn't give her a bath she was up from 12:30 am till 3 or 4 in the morning. She took her long sleep that evening instead of during the night.

Here is Jillian at 3 weeks old.

She has been doing pretty good about sleeping. On good nights she only wakes me up twice to eat. Other nights we get up more frequently. Also sometimes she thinks it is fun to be awake between 2 am and 4 am... That is not so fun for mom & dad. We like to sleep during those hours.

Yesterday (2-23-10) Jillian ate out of a bottle for the first time. At first she was trying to spit it out (probably thinking it was just that dumb pacifier). Rick got a little milk to start to come out of the bottle and she decided it was good. She ate every drop out of the bottle.

More Jillian Videos

I had Jillian laying on the couch next to me on her tummy and she rolled over to her back. I figured it was just a fluke so I put her back on her belly and sure enough she did it again! The video of her rolling from belly to back is actually her third time in a row! I didn't think she would be able to do this yet.

This video is not nearly as exciting. It is just a video of her laying around, but she is wide awake!

Here is a picture of my belly taken yesterday (2-5-10). Just one week after Jillian was born. It feels tiny to me after what it looked like just last week.

Jillian is a good baby. She only cries if she is hungry or needs her diaper changed. She does let me get some sleep in about 2 - 3 hour sections. Sometimes only about an hour but it just depends.

Poor little thing gets hiccups. I took a video of her with a case of them. Her whole little body shakes.

BABY JILLIAN HAS ARRIVED!!

Jillian Elizabeth was born on 1-29-10 @ 11:33 am. Weighing in at 6lbs 10oz and 19.5 inches long.

I went into labor about 4 am. I tried to just go back to sleep figuring it would quiet down and not be to close together. When I couldn't sleep I was timing them at about 6 minutes apart till nearly 5 am.

Soon after this I awoke Jillian's daddy and he helped me time the contractions spacing out a bit to about every 10 minutes but quickly coming closer and closer together between 3-5 so we headed to the hospital.

About 8 am we got to the birthing center and went into an exam room to determine if I would be admitted or not. They estimated me at about 3-4 cm dilated. The contractions got significantly stronger once I got checked in and it was about all I could handle to move from the exam room bed to the wheel chair and then into my actual room. Once we got into our room we were waiting for the doctor to come in. As the contractions got stronger and didn't seem to have any recovery time in between I thought I was ready to get hooked up to an epidural. They were painful and I thought it was going to be like this all day...

It doesn't seem like to long after we got to the room that my water broke. Of course I just thought it was something else. My mom finally reported this to the nurses so they then hurried to get the doctor.

I think it was about 1.5 -2 hours or so I had been in the room before the doctor arrived and by the time he checked me I was at 10 cm. I am guessing around 10 am. It is really hard to remember the times since I was a little busy. I did end up accepting a dose of pain meds around the time the doc arrived. I am told they made me a little like I was tipsy, but I don't remember this very well. They offered me the epidural then and said I didn't want it now..... since we were so close and the other pain meds were helping a bit.

Right after the doctor checked on me he came back and I started to push for delivery. Surprisingly this made the contractions hurt less. I was told this is how it goes, but it is hard to believe until you experience it. The doctor on call had another lady who he had to do a C-section on. He stayed in my room for a while until he had to go to the surgery. Another doctor from the practice was called.

Just before the other doctor arrived I was told that I was going to have to NOT push. Even without this she was ready and as the doctor walked in I am told her head came about halfway out. The very next contraction she was delivered. Talk about walking in at just the right time! He wasn't even allowed to go and change and was hurrying to get his gloves and gown on.

I went to the doctor today for another checkup. Still at 1.5 cm dilated and the doctor said pretty well thinned out. So now we are just waiting... Hopefully she will not make us wait too much longer :).

The picture here is my 39 week picture.

Baby's room

Here is my 37 week picture, well nearly 38 weeks. I had a doctors appointment last week. I am now at 1.5 cm dilated about the same effacement. Still a ways to go, but making some progress.

We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of our little one, just about 11 days from our due date now. If her daddy would have his way she would have been born this weekend. He is ready to meet her and done with the waiting.

Below you will find some snapshots of the nursery. The netting you see over the crib is call a "crip tent" and it is used to keep the cat out. Not that our cat is allowed in this room, but we don't want to chance him trying to sleep in the babies bed.

Here is my 36 week picture. Maybe it is the angle but it doesn't seem to stick out as much as the previous picture.

I had my 36 week appointment today. Everything checked out well so that was good.

They started to check for dilation & effacement today. I am at 1cm dilated and less than 50% effaced. The doctor said this is about where they like to see you at this time. I know from reading up that you can stay at the same dilation for a few weeks or it can also keep progressing. I go back every week until I deliver so we will see if there is any progression after next weeks appointment.

Below is a video I took that shows some of the belly movements I see a lot. I think I got a decent video of this since it is very unpredictable.
